Advent Arlington Church Announcements and Calendar Need Prayer?
Following our worship services, persons are available to pray with and for you (our Stephen Ministers Becky Bunker, Larry Myers, and Duane Gardner, or Pastor Don).

ACTS Jr. is for students in 4th-6th grades and their families. Today, they will go out to lunch at CiCi’s Pizza then watch a movie. They will return to church after the movie. All are welcome!

Teens are invited to come! Wear an ugly Christmas sweater and bring a $1 gift that no one wants or needs. It will be held at the Sireci’s house (5251 Charlotte Oak Cove, Arlington). Contact James Weir (901-486-6440) to learn more.

Advent Arlington Church now hosts an NA recovery group. They meet weekly in our Fellowship Hall at 7 pm. NA is open to people recovering from all types of addictions: drugs, alcohol, pornography, sex, gambling, etc.

Wed., Dec. 19th Mom’s Bible Study

The Mom’s Bible Study is open to all mothers, especially those with young children. Contact: Amy Kerns (amykerns@yahoo.com). Childcare is provided.

Join us here in Advent Arlington’s sanctuary for an Advent service of readings, music (harp and guitar), and prayer by candlelight as we slow down and ponder Jesus’ birth. It will be led by Georgia Smith and Kelly Chewning.

Join us on this holy night to welcome our Savior’s birth through a special evening of worship, Christmas carols, and sharing the light of Christ.

Route 66 is a weekly class for adults which studies the Bible and Christian beliefs. It is open to guests and newcomers, so come on out next Sunday morning!

Awakening Weekend
The Awakening is a three-day spiritual retreat designed for high school-aged teens (freshmen-seniors).  This is a structured, spirit-filled weekend that will take place at Memphis’ For the Kingdom Retreat Center.  To register for this weekend please visit www.midsouthgb.com.

Tues., Dec. 11th  Women’s Christmas Dinner 6:00-8:00 pm
All ladies are invited to attend a special Women’s Christmas Dinner at Advent Cordova. The guest speaker is Rachel Greer, founder of Rachel’s Kids Ministry. Entertainment will be provided by Angel Street Ministry. Tickets are $20 per person or $150 for a table of 8. Childcare is available with reservation (contact Kimberly Munafo at 755-6290 or kmunafo@adventpres.com). For tickets, contact Caroline Tinner (493-4080) or Janice Lamer (826-8698). Job Opening:
We are creating a new part-time position here at Advent Arlington Presbyterian Church to work with our financial operations. Soon we will begin to handle the majority of our finances here at our Arlington campus, continuing to work with the Cordova finance department. The Arlington Campus Accounts Receivable/Payable Coordinator supports Advent Arlington’s mission by ensuring accurate and timely receiving, recording, disbursement, and reporting of our finances. This person will serve as the point person for all Arlington finances to include congregational giving, preschool tuition payments, paying bills, preparing donor receipts, budgeting, data entry, and financial reporting at the Arlington campus. It is a part-time position (6-12 hours/week). The full job description can be found on AdventArlington.com. Operation Christmas Child:
It’s time to fill a shoe box! Operation Christmas Child is now collecting gifts that get sent to kids all over the world. We have brochures that explain the procedure and boxes to fill. You can also use a regular shoe box or plastic shoe box. And to make it really easy, you can go to samaritanspurse.org and shop online to complete an order. Contact Janet Quillin at 901-550-6262 for more information. She will be collecting the shoe boxes November 12-18 or you can deliver them to Highland Heights Presbyterian Church.

This month they will gather at the Cantrell’s home (6160 Windsor Oak Drive) to bake cookies. Once prepared, they will deliver them to local fire fighters and the Shelby County Police. If you have questions ask Ingrid Cantrell.   Sun., Nov. 25th Hanging of the Greens 11:40 am Volunteers are needed to stay after worship and decorate our sanctuary and church for Christmas. Lunch in the Fellowship Hall will be provided to all who help.   Sun., Dec. 2nd Advent’s 40th Year Anniversary Celebration 5:00 pm Our whole church family will gather at Advent Cordova in the sanctuary this evening for a great celebration followed by supper together in the CLC gym.
