Wednesday Night Alive
What is the Youth Club Program?
The Wednesday Night Alive Youth Club Program is a midweek design for ministry with children (ages 1st through 12th grades) and their families within the church. It is a structured “retreat every week,” in the middle of the week, that provides all the dynamics of a camp/conference program, but it is experienced in the context of the life of the church. It guarantees the growth of intergenerational relationships that bond the entire congregation into an authentic community of faith. It becomes the cornerstone of a congregation’s effective, contagious youth and family ministry.
Components of Youth Club
In weekly sessions throughout the school year, children participate in:
Bible Study
Grade level courses taught by committed teachers. The goal of Bible Study is to nurture children into intelligent, obedient and biblically informed discipleship.
Worship Skills
Leadership/participation/preparation/training for worship; primarily through choir. Service projects are offered through craft activities. The goal is to develop responsibility for and practice in worship and service skills because worship and service are our primary goals as disciples to God.
Playtime
Athletics, games and recreational activities of all kinds. The goal of playtime is to have fun at the expense of no one.
Family Dinner Time
Dinner is served “family style” with a “family group” which is composed of children assigned to a table with “table parents”. The goal of the dinner time is to provide a joyous, intergenerational celebration of personhood and relationships “in Christ.”
Goals
Youth Club has established a proven track record for developing genuine and lasting relationships between young people and Jesus Christ, between young people and their pastors, their parents, with other adults of the church congregation, and with their peers.
Purpose:
• To create an understanding and desire in young people for accepting
Christ.
• To develop intelligent, active and loyal membership and leadership in the church.
• To give worthwhile study, wholesome recreation and opportunities for
service, all bound up in a true Christian fellowship
• To develop the kind of Christians who are able and willing to communicate their faith and to assume personal responsibility in assisting in the building of God’s kingdom here on earth.
