Children's ministry is one of our highest priorities at Advent Arlington. Although we are just getting started as a church, we already have many children. And we do our best to care for them, to teach them, and to encourage them to become lifelong followers of Jesus.
Sunday School
The foundation of our children's ministry is our Sunday School program. From 10:00 until 10:50 each Sunday, our children meet in the Kid's Cottage for class. The Kid's Cottage, located next to the church, is the primary site of our children's ministries. Each of its rooms have been painted in bright colors: blue, yellow, green, pink, and purple.
Sunday school is a place where your children want to be! The multi-media curriculum, Live B.I.G., integrates all of their senses as they are challenged to use their sight, hearing, body, mind, and creativity.
On Sunday mornings children of all ages gather first in the Yellow Room. There they watch the DVD introducing the week's lesson. Then they join in song and dance to the music video which follows the monthly theme (and on occasion they share these songs with the adults during worship).
Following this ten minute opening segment, the children go with their teachers to their classrooms. We have three elementary classes:
4 years old - Kindergarten
1st-3rd Grade
4th-5th Grade
The teachers lead them through the lesson as they read the Bible, talk about it's meaning, make crafts, play games, and learn in a variety of creative ways. Following Sunday School, parents pick up their children so that the family can attend worship together.

Nursery
We provide nursery care for infants and toddlers during our Sunday School and worship hours every Sunday. Our nurseries are located off of the fellowship hall (behind the sanctuary). There our children are protected with great care and shown love by our paid and volunteer childcare workers.
Children in Worship & Wee Church
Know that children are always welcome to worship with us at Advent Arlington. Those that are old enough may come forward during the service to hear the Children's Sermon. Afterward, children up through first grade may go to our Kid's Cottage for "Wee Church" while adults and older children finish their time of worship in the sanctuary.
Wee Church is an opportunity for our children to learn about worship in an age-appropriate manner. They sit on small benches, they are given a bulletin, sing, hear a Bible reading, give an offering, and pray together. Parents then pick up their children from the Kid's Cottage after worship is complete.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer we offer a week-long Vacation Bible School for children from age 5 through the 8th grade. For the summer of 2010 we will go on a "High Seas Expedition." It will take place from 6:00-8:15 pm the evenings of July 26th-30th. More information and applications are available by clicking here.
Kindermusik at Advent
Kindermusik, a musical learning program for young children and their parents, is offered at both campuses of Advent: Cordova and Arlington.
Arlington classes are taught by Ms. Tracey James and take place in the Kid's Cottage at Advent Arlington Church.
