Missions Overview
Advent is deeply involved in local, national, and foreign missions. Through these mission efforts, Advent empowers members to empower others as we share the love of God as we have seen it in Jesus Christ.
Local Missions
Locally, Advent has been active in efforts to improve and protect our local, Cordova community. In the greater Memphis area, we support the Memphis Interfaith Hospitality Network (MIHN), Memphis' Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), the Memphis Union Mission, and various ministries to the poor sponsored by First Presbyterian Church and other agencies. Each year monies are also allocated to local Presbyterian and other causes.
National US Missions
Nationally, Advent supports missions of our denomination at the synod and national level. The most important of these is Living Waters for the World and especially Living Waters University at Camp Hopewell. We are also deeply active in the efforts of renewal groups within and without the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
International Missions
Internationally, Advent is a founder congregation of Casa Mami, an orphanage in Reynosa, Mexico which specializes in at risk children.

We are actively involved in the installation of water treatment facilities and training locals on the importance of both clean water and the "Living Water of Christ" in Ghana, West Africa, Honduras, and the Philippines through Living Waters for the World. Members of our congregation travel to these areas and experience "hands on" mission experience. |
| In addition, Advent supports full time missionaries in West Africa and missionary efforts in Pakistan through the Presbyterian Outreach Foundation. Recently, Advent was the first congregation to co-sponsor a mission trip with the Outreach Foundation. |  |
Disaster and Emergency Response Work
From time to time, emergencies create other, special mission opportunities. Advent has reacted to emergency needs arising from U.S. Natural Disasters, such as hurricanes on the Gulf Coast and Tornadoes in the Central United States.
We have raised monies for medical facilities in Ghana, and for other relief efforts.
We have sent Bibles and other gifts to our soldiers in the Middle East.
