Women of Advent

We are a churchwide organization that utilizes the gifts of women who attend Advent. We are connected to a larger body in our denomination known as Presbyterian Women PC (USA).

Women in our congregation are organized into small groups, called circles, which meet regularly to nurture our faith through prayer, Bible study and fellowship. The circles support the mission of the church worldwide and provide an outlet for service to the local community as well.

Advent has seven ongoing circles described below:

Dorcas Circle

Dorcas Circle is the longstanding backbone of women in our church and meets the first Tuesday of every month at 10am (September through June). We are currently studying: "Joshua, a journey of faith". Please contact Dorothy Robbins 937-1679 or Julia Miller 373-5163.

Hope Circle

Hope Circle, a group of Presbyterian women from several churches within the Presbytery of the Mid-South, meets on the 3rd Sunday of every month for a potluck lunch, fellowship and Bible study at 1:00pm. We are currently studying: "Jubilee - Luke's Gospel to the Poor." Please contact Diana Veazey at 755-9543.

Moms Rock

A group of women with children of all ages who meet every Sunday morning at 10:00. We are currently studying a devotional "Queen of the Castle - 52 weeks of encouragement for the uninspired, domestically challenged or just plain tired homemaker." Please contact Debra Sterns at 314-8237.

Pebbles and Boulders

Pebbles and Boulders gather on a weekly basis and offer a nursery on Monday mornings at 9:30 (September through May). We are currently studying: "Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible." Please contact Robin Ballou at work: 755-6290 - ext. 21 or home: 753-1348.

Prayer Breakfast Circle

The Prayer Breakfast Circle gathers for encouragement, fellowship, devotion and intercessory prayer over breakfast . . . and someone else does the cooking! It meets the second Friday of each month at 6:45am (September through June) in the Library. Please contact Carolyn Moss at 309-9534 for more information.

Women of Praise (WOP)

WOP meets every Wednesday morning at 9:30. Childcare is provided. We are currently studying: "Becoming a Vessel God Can Use." Please contact D'Ann Averwater at 373-3819 or Joy Karel at 755-5552.

Women of Worship (WOW)

WOW meets every Sunday morning at 10:00. We are currently studying: "Wising Up - Applying the Wisdom of Proverbs to Daily Life." Please contact Amy Barnes 336-4646.
