Repent

Dirty Church Words

Mark 1:14-20 Mark 10:17-22 The word repent is actually language from a journey. Christians first called themselves “the Way.” The concept they had was about following the person of Christ - living in the way of Christ. It was all journey language and the word repent simply meant that you needed to turn around - re-orient. Old church language often sounds outdated or almost offensive in our current culture. In this series, we’ll explore each word and why it doesn’t seem relevant or comfortable. Then we will look at the theological concept that each word represents. Finally, we will do our best to redeem the word - looking at it in a new light and seeing its relevance and importance.
