Joseph plays a surprisingly big role in the story of Jesus despite getting very little mention in the Gospels. Joseph is a righteous man and a follower of the law but also compassionate and moves to spare Mary and the baby by divorcing her quietly. Above it all he is faithful and follows God's command by taking Mary as his wife and Jesus as his son despite the fear of embarrassment. He continues to follow faithfully after several revelations command him to move his family several times. His faith ensures that prophesy is fulfilled and that we can be assured the Jesus is the Messiah.
