Sin and the Lost
The parable of the prodigal son redefines sin and lostness. Rather than "breaking the law" it is a breach in relationship. It is a story of 2 lost sons - not just one (both have broken relationship). In the end, the father illustrates the prodigal love of God to all sinners.
